I Scored at the Thrift Store – What a Pane
I’m still kicking myself for not rescuing the old windows when we renovated our house.
I’m talking enormous sun room windows with amazing hardware.
Let me take a moment of silence to mourn my loss.
Ok, where were we?
With a torn down garage and a basement filled with construction equipment, there was no room for my hoarding ways.
So when I came upon these crusty little gems, I immediately thought about the ones that got away (cue the violin).
I laughed, I cried, I haggled, I lugged them home.
Now when I get melancholy about the ones that got away, I just glance at my adopted windows and know they are home at last.
I’m starting a one that got away support group if you’d like to share.

those are so awesome. what kind of thrift stores do you have where you live??? wow, ours don’t have much else than old, dated clothing and household items. we have to go to our restore to find architectural salvage like that and for a good price (yes it does go to a good cause though).
i’d also like to know where they will be abiding while in your care!

I love these doors! I have been fortunate enough that I get one every once in a while for free from a friend whose husband is a contractor. Karma is smiling on you and gave you your doors back. I am sure there will be more coming your way!

I’m shocked that you didn’t scavenge every single last window from the house … but so happy you found some new/old window panes to adopt! Can’t wait to see the creative way you use them in your decor …

SUPER find Kelly, what a great shape. Love the long and slender silhouette! We had 23 windows replaced, I kept them but shared lots with friends. I have a few left I’m saving for something special that has yet to be determined!
I can really sympathize. My family was getting our parent’s home ready to sell and had the many, many windows replaced. A big pile of windows sat in their backyard for days. Every time I went over there, I’d tell myself to take some of those windows home. When I finally decided to do it, they were gone! I guess I need to let it go. lol

Very nice. I also scored an old, old window this weekend along with upper and lower cabinets for $90 for my future craft room. So excited. I spent the weekend covered in dust from all the sanding. Talk about a happy camper. Can’t wait to see what you do with yours.
